In one of the best leagues in high school sports around the state of Kansas, no games in the Big 7 League ever disappoint and Friday night was no different. The Sabetha Lady Jays went into the night looking to stay just one game behind the Thunder of Nemaha Central in league play, and the Sabetha Boys were looking to get back to an even .500 record this season. As far as the Lady Tigers they were looking to try and get to just one game back of the Lady Jays. The Jeff West Boys were trying to stay in a race with the Panthers of Royal Valley sitting just 2 games back for the top of the league.

The first matchup of the night would be the girls game where Sabetha would look to try and sweep the Lady Tigers this season and despite a late rally by the Lady Tigers Sabetha would get the 38-35 win and complete the season sweep. The Lady Jays were led in scoring on the night by Senior Maggi Hughes with 11 points in the win while Melinna Schumann added nine points and Kinley Schuette six. The Lady Tigers in the loss had two girls both with 9 points and that was Mellany Roenne and Kristin Biltoft. Heather Kahler also chipped in 8 points in the loss as well for the Lady Tigers.

In the final game of the night, the Sabetha Boys looked to try and split the season series with the Tigers and get back to a .500 record on the season. The Jeff West boys had Josh Broxterman back for this game, however it wouldn't seem to matter as the Sabetha boys would walk away with the 49-47 win at home. The Sabetha boys were led in scoring by Senior Gabe Garber with 16 points while Braeden Argabright added 12 points and Kaleb Grimm 10 in the win. The Jeff West boys were led in scoring by Quinn Neuenswander with 15 points in the loss. Bryce Clements also chipped in 14 points and Josh Broxterman netted 7 points in the loss.

The Sabetha girls move to 13-1 overall on the season and 7-1 in league play while the Sabetha boys move to 7-7 overall and 3-5 in league play on the year. The Jeff West girls move to 8-7 overall and 5-4 in league play, and the Jeff West boys move to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in league play this season as well.

Both teams will be back in action Tuesday night as both Sabetha teams will play at home against the Hiawatha Redhawks while Jeff West travels to Royal Valley.
