Sabetha Legion Baseball Improves to 2-0 at State After Dominant Win Over Russell

The 2019 Kansas American Legion AA/AAA State Baseball Tournament continued Thursday afternoon with day two action and the Sabetha Raptors moved to 2-0 in pool play with a dominant win for the second straight day taking down Russell 17-1 in four innings.

For the second consecutive day the Raptors wasted no time jumping out in front scoring six runs in the first inning on eight walks and an RBI from Seth Burdick.

Sabetha added eight more runs in the second on five walks and six hits with Burdick, Joe Gruber, Braden Argabright, Riley Herrmann and Jalen Worthley each racking up RBI singles.

After a scoreless third the Raptors put the game away with a 3-run fourth as Gabe Garber and Blake Frey each delivered RBI singles while Brayden Becker added an RBI-double.

Becker also tossed the first two innings and was perfect getting Russell six up and six down while striking out four.

Jalen Worthley tossed the final two innings and after walking the first three batters he faced he settled down and struck out the final three batters in the fourth.

Becker was also named the McDonald's Player of the Game on 103.9 KNZA, as at the plate he added a 1-for-1 day with a double, three walks, two RBI and three runs scored. 

Along with Becker, Herrmann and Worhtley were each on base four times and also scored three runs. 

The win puts Sabetha 2-0 in pool play which the Raptors will finish up Friday night against Iola at 6 p.m. with live coverage on 103.9 KNZA.
