19 Area Wrestlers Punch Tickets to 3-2-1A State Wrestling in Hays

Class 3-2-1A Regional at Rossville – Results

State tournament berths were on the line over the weekend at the Class 3-2-1A regional at Rossville and 19 area wrestlers earned spots at the state tournament in Hays coming up next weekend.

The Sabetha Bluejays led the way with six guys earning spots at the state tournament including two regional champions which was good enough for a fourth place team finish. Cauy Rokey took the top spot in the 220 pound weight class, while Elliot Strahm continued his state title defense claiming the 285 pound regional title. The Bluejays also had three third place finishers in Kamden Brownlee at 145 pounds, Colby TInklin at 152 and Walker Lowdermilk at 160 pounds while Kaden Dillon took fourth at 126 pounds.

Riverside finished fifth as a team with one regional champ, as Beau Horn claimed the 132 pound title to lead the Cyclones. Riverside also had Luke Horn at 145 pounds and Kinstin Juhl at 160 pounds each take second in their respective weight classes, while Quenton Barron finished third at 170 pounds to also qualify for state.

The ACCHS Tigers are sending three wrestlers to state after placing sixth as a team, led by Tyler Hewitt who took second at 138 pounds while Mason Scholz at 106 pounds and Brodie Page at 120 each finished third.

Doniphan West also had three guys punch tickets to state, as Nathanial Howerton finished third at 182 pounds while Riley Schuneman and Norman Miller each took fourth at 220 and 285 pounds, respectively.

Oskaloosa wrapped up state qualifiers with two guys punching tickets to Hays, as Eli King finished second in the 182 pound weight class while Christopher King did the same at 285 pounds

The 3-2-1A state tournament is scheduled to begin Friday from Hays and we will have live reports throughout the day on 103.9 KNZA beginning at 10:30 am.
