Two Norris Titans Sign with Peru State Softball Team

Two Norris Titan softball players signed their letter of intents on Tuesday to play softball for the Peru State College Bobcats beginning in the fall of 2013.
 
Makenna Tracy and Jenna Gruber became the fifth and sixth players to join the 2013-14 recruit class for Bobcat head coach Mark Mathews.    For Mathews, this is the making of a recruit class that could reach 13 or 14 once it is completed.  The 'Cats will be replacing seven seniors at the end of the 2013 season.

Tracy, the daughter of Matt and Brenda Tracy of Hickman, was a Lincoln Journal Star Super-State Second Team and a Class B First Team honoree as an outfielder.  In addition, Tracy was a Class B First Team honoree in the Omaha World-Herald.  Tracy was named to the Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) First Team after batting .434 for the season.  The four-year varsity starter finished as the Titans' all-time doubles leader.
 
Gruber is the daughter of Jayme and Tammy Gruber of Lincoln, was named as her team's outfield most valuable player in 2011 and 2012.  This season, Gruber finished the season with a 6-1 win record as a pitcher with a 2.45 earned run average.  Gruber, a four-year letter winner, earned EMC Honorable Mention this past season.  Also a tennis player, Gruber lettered three years in the sport and was named as an Academic All-Conference in tennis last year.
