Highland Community College lady Scotties will be featuring some new faces this season and a few familiar faces after their 28-4 season last year. The Scotties have started off their season in blistering style with two win scoring 103 and 106 points, respectively in the wins.

First up was at match on Friday night against Bethany JV, in which the lady Scotties cruised to a 106-41 win to start their season off 1-0 this year.

Scotties turned around and played again on Saturday this time playing Culver-Stockton and the lady Scotties made light work of them cruising to a 103-28 win.

Highland held Culver-Stockton to just eight points in the first half on their way to the win and a 2-0 start to the season. The Scotties were led in scoring by Jaaron Kassanavoid who as 11 of 15 from the field, scoring 24 points. Three other Scotties joined Kassanovoid in double figures as Carina Jackson chipped in 16 and Janalle Saling and Tamiya Green each 17 points. Green finished the game with a double-double adding 18 rebounds with her 17 points.

Scotties won the battle of the boards out rebounding Culver-Stockton 47 to 25, while also shooting 50 percent from the field on the night.

Highland opens the season with a pair of easy wins and next plays Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, IA Wednesday at 5:30pm.
