Linn, Valley Heights & Washington County Boys Golf Compete at Republic County Invite

A trio of Twin Valley League boy’s golf teams teed it up at the Republic County Invitational on Tuesday as Washington County, Linn and Valley Heights took to the course with several other teams.

In the team competitions both Valley Heights and Linn field two-man teams taking sixth and seventh, respectively out of eight teams, posting scores of 204 and 213, while Thayer Central won the competition with a two-man score of 162. Washington County and Linn field four-man teams placing seventh and ninth out of nine teams with scores of 413 and 504, host Republic County won the four-man action behind a team score of 348. Linn was the only school of the three area teams to post a six-man score finishing with a 717 for sixth out of six teams with six-man team scores; Thayer Central had the best six-man score with a 527.

The best individual performance between the three TVL schools from the Washington County Tigers as Hunter Johnson shot a 89 to finish 12th. Evan Oullette shot an even 100 to tie for 29th on the day, while Matt Small and Sidney Applegrath posted rounds of 105 and 119 to finish tied for 38th and 54th, respectively. Scott Romeiser also competed for the Tigers posting a 138 on the day.

Valley Heights was led by Payton Manley who registered a round of 95 to tie for 21st on the day and along with Quentin Blaske who shot a 109 made up the Mustangs two-man team; Blaske tied for 46th. Katlynn Treff and Bryan Yungeburg both also competed for the Mustangs on the day posting rounds of 101 and 118 to finish 32nd and 53rd.

Linn was led by Andrew Meyer who posted a 91 to tie for 16th individually on the day, while Ted Hornbostel finished tied for 51st with a round of 115. Stuart Graff, Kalen Richardson, Brandon Gerleve and Aaron Hendrickson all competed for Linn also posting rounds of 122, 129, 129 and 131, respectively.
