(KLZA)-- The Falls City Sacred Heart boys have qualified for the Class D2 State Basketball tournament for the 4th consecutive season. The third ranked Irish outscored #2 ranked Exeter-Milligan 16-7 in the third quarter, extending a 3-point halftime advantage to a dozen on their way to a 57-42 victory at Beatrice High School Tuesday night.
The Irish are 20-6 on the season while the Timberwolves drop to 18-7.
Logan Scheitel scored 24 points, including three, 3-point buckets and a 9 of 10 performance at the free throw line, including 6 for 6 in the fourth quarter to lead Sacred Heart. Scheitel set a new school record for 3-point buckets in a season, he now has 59 on the season.
Austin Malone scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half for Sacred Heart. Sophomore Bryan Jorn added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the game.
Kyle Jensen tried to keep Exeter-Milligan in the game scoring a team leading 21 points.
Sacred Heart will be the fifth seed in the D2 State Tournament and will play #4 seed Riverside at 8:45 p-m Thursday night. Exeter-Milligan will qualify for the D2 State Tournament on a wildcard berth. The Timberwolves will be the 7th seed and take on #2 Wilcox-Hildreth in the first round.
