2015 TVL Basketball Tournament -- Boys Semifinals

The 2015 Twin Valley League tournament continued with boy's action on Thursday night

TVL Tournament brackets --- Girls     Boys

Boys

Consolation Game -- #11 Wetmore vs. #10 Linn       (Linn won 56-54 in overtime) 

The Wetmore Cardinals were in the drive seat most of the game against Linn, leading 24-20 at the half and leading down the stretch but the Bulldogs fought back and pushed the game into overtime. In overtime the Bulldogs took the lead and didn't give it up, the Cardinals did hit a shot at the buzzer to bring it within two-points but fell to Linn 56-54 in overtime. Chase McGatlin paced the Bulldogs posting 21 points, while Chad Gross chipped in 18 points and Dillon Cooper added 10 points as Linn moved to 3-6 on the season. Wetmore with the loss fell to 2-10 on the year, as Andy Henry lead the way with 19 points. Jeremy Hoelscher added 17 points for the Cardinals while Dalton Boeckman added nine points.

Consolation Semifinals -- #9 Frankfort vs. #5 Troy            (Troy won 75-43)

Troy Trojans charged out of the gate behind a 17-8 first quarter against Frankfort and the Wildcats were unable to overcome the early deficit. The Trojans led 33-24 at the half and added to their lead with 19-7 third quarter on their way to improving to 8-3 on the season. Collin Jasper paced the Trojans with 17 points, while Wil Smith added 16 points and Jake Ross and Nathan Gaarder both scored 10 points. Frankfort with the loss falls to 4-8 on the year, as Alex Roeder led the Wildcats with 15 points and Jacob Studer chipped in 12 points.

Consolation Semifinals -- #6 Valley Heights vs. #2 Centralia      (Centralia won 47-31)

The Centralia Panthers bounced back from their first loss of the season by corralling the Valley Heights Mustang offense and holding them to just 31 points in a 47-31 victory. The Panthers worked out to a 26-13 lead at the half and continued on from that point to move to 9-1 on the year. Joey Ferron led the Panthers with 14 points, while Darrian Turner chipped in 10 points. Valley Heights fell to 6-5 on the season with the loss and was led by Elijah Smith who scored 19 of the teams 31 points in the contest.

Semifinals -- #4 Doniphan West vs. #1 Hanover               (Hanover won 54-35) 

Doniphan West jumped out to an early lead but the Hanover Wildcats answered and held the one-point lead after the first quarter and pushed that to a 29-23 lead at halftime. In the second half things swung heavily in favor of Hanover, as Doniphan West struggled offensively being outscored 15-5 in the third quarter to fall behind by double figures, as Hanover went on to earn the 54-35 win. Cody Rengstorf off the bench paced Hanover with his best game of the season posting 13 points, while Austin Diederich added 10 points, as Hanover moved to 10-0 on the year. The Wildcats will be looking to defend their TVL tournament from last year and win their fifth League tourney title in the last seven years. Doniphan West with the loss fell to 7-3 on the year, as Cooper Leach led the Mustangs with 15 points and Jeffery Watts added 10 points.

Semifinals -- #7 Onaga vs. #3 Washington County           (Washington County won 57-49)

A tight ball game early the Washington County Tigers managed to work out to a 31-22 lead at the half and pushed that lead to double figures in the second half. The Buffaloes didn't go away quietly holding the Tigers scoreless for over four minutes in the fourth quarter, but struggled offensively to cut the lead but made it a two-possession game late. Ultimately the Tigers made plays down the stretch to secure the 57-49 win. Konner Penning continued his strong play leading the Tigers let again this time posting 15 points, while Kyle McGatlin added 13 points as the Tigers improved to 10-1 on the year. The Tigers will look to win their first TVL tournament title on Saturday against Hanover. Onaga with the loss fell to 7-4 on the year, as Wyatt Cordell led the Buffaloes with 21 points and Jarod Gronewoller scored 16 points.
