It was a doubleheader packed with plenty of offense and runs scored as Doniphan County traveled to Silver Lake for a non-league showdown. At the end of the night both teams earned a win as Doniphan County claimed the win in the first game 9-6 and Silver Lake responded with a win in the second game winning 16-8 in a run-rule contest.

In game one the offense packed plenty of punch for Doniphan County as Nathan Gaarder launched a pair of home runs and tallied three RBI's in the game, while Colton Masters finished 2-4 and Phoenix Keller had a pair hits with two RBI. On the mound Caleb Winkel gave up six runs in the competition but worked his way to the complete game 9-6 victory for Doniphan County.

Game two the offense proved to be more in favor of Silver Lake as they run-ruled Doniphan County 16-8, in a game that was played in light rain throughout. The rain perhaps didn't help the defense for Doniphan County who had some miscues to help aid Silver Lake in the win. Keller took the loss on the mound just going an inning and one-third, but offensively did blast a three-run homerun, while Alex Schmille added a 2-2 performance with two runs scored.

Doniphan County with the split moved 10-3 on the season and now gears up for action on in the 31st annual Leo Tristch tournament in Hiawatha this weekend, starting Friday night. Doniphan County will open with Marysville on Friday (June 27th) following the other opening round game of Atchison versus Hiawatha at 6:00pm.
