It was another strong showing by the Atchison Redmen boys tennis team this season coming against some strong competition at the Leavenworth Invitational earlier this week, as the Redmen took home a third place team finish on the day.

The Redmen once again were spear headed by the performance of their doubles teams as both teams saw their winning streaks come to an end but took home second place on the day, each losing in tight battles that went to tie-breakers in the championship matches.

In doubles #1 the tandem of Wade Gassmann and Spencer Walker went 2-1 on the day beating the teams from Bonner Springs, 9-1 and Paola 9-6, but fell to Ottawa in the championship 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. Colton Weinmann and Karl Dolenz also went 2-1 in action beating Leavenworth 9-0 and Shawnee Mission West 9-3, but falling in the finals 6-7 (7-5), 6-2.

On the singles court both Redmen on the day posted a 1-2 record, placing sixth on the day. Jason DeFisher grabbed a 9-4 win over competitor from Shawnee Mission West, while falling 9-0 to Immaculata and 9-4 to Ottawa. Lance Ernzen picked up his win against Leavenworth 9-2, while falling 9-3 to Lansing and 9-0 to Ottawa.
