Mother Nature yet again altered the high school sports schedule during the spring sports season on Tuesday cancelling multiple events for the day but the St. Mary's boy’s golf Invitational did get underway but like everything else was still affected by the weather shortening the competition.

Due to the weather the competition was shortened to nine holes played by the teams and with the scores through nine holes not being the same for the teams the tournament finishes were decided by strokes over/under par through nine holes.

Out of the 14 teams competing, Wamego finished first place finishing +23 through their nine holes as their 4-Man score. The best finish for an area team was Sabetha who took home second place just one stroke back of Wamego finishing with a +24. Jeff West took home third place as a team with a +35, while Perry Lecompton and Frankfort/Centralia rounded out the top five finishing fourth and fifth, respectively with +43 and +48 scores.  Nemaha Valley and Horton also competed in action on the day placing eighth and 11th, respectively with team scores of +59 and +93.

Six of the top 10 individual scores on the day came from area golfers as Sabetha, Frankfort/Centralia and Jeff West each had at least one top 10 finisher on the day. The Bluejays registered three of the top 10 scores of the day at the weather shortened competition. Tyler Ulrich placed second with a +3, while Derek Halls tied for third with a +5 and Connor Epple tied for ninth with a +8. Ryan Vernon from the Frankfort/Centralia team tied Halls of Sabetha for third with a +5, while Jeff West Tigers, Connor Mickens and Chase Holthaus tied for fifth and seventh with rounds +6 and +7, respectively.
