Sacred Heart boys, Lincoln Lutheran girls, win Thunderbird Invitational

(KTNC) --  Several area teams competed at the Johnson County Central Invitational track meet Tuesday, with 10 boys and girls teams competing.
 Falls City Sacred Heart was the boys’ team champion with 126 points. Johnson County Central was second with 98 points. Lincoln Lutheran edged Freeman for third place, with the Falcons 4th. HTRS had 23 points for a 7th place finish and Lourdes Central Catholic was 8th.
 It was a big day for Freeman’s Derek Zimmerman. He won three events – the 100-meter dash, long jump and triple jump. He set a meet record with a distance of 47-feet, 1.75-inches in the triple jump, breaking the record he set last year.
 Sacred Heart got event wins from Henry Arnold in the 400-meter dash, Chaz Dunn in the 800-meter run, Jarod Fiegener in the discus, and Sean Strasheim in the pole vault. Sacred Heart also won the 400 and 1600-meter relays.
 Johnson County Central had one individual event winner, with Samuel Saldivar winning the 3200-meter run. JCC also won the 3200-meter relay.

 Lincoln Lutheran was the girls’ team champion, with 85 points to edge Tri-County, which had 84 points. Freeman had 78.5 points for 3rd place, with Conestoga 4th, JCC 5th (58), Sacred Heart 6th (48), Johnson-Brock 8th (30), Lourdes Central Catholic 9th, and HTRS 10th in the team standings.
 Sacred Heart won two events. Maggie Goltz won the triple jump and Elizabeth Magdanz won the pole vault.
