MUDECAS Track Meet Held Saturday in Tecumseh

 The MUDECAS Track Meet was held Saturday in Tecumseh.
 In the girls’ portion of the meet, Pawnee City was the winner of the A Division and BDS won the B Division.
 The Indians finished with 179.3 points; Freeman was a distant second with 129 points. JCC was 3rd with 79.3 points, followed by Palmyra, Southern, HTRS, and Johnson-Brock.
 B Division standings have BDS first with 154 points, Sterling second with 135, then Diller-Odell, Meridian, Falls City Sacred Heart 5th with 50 points, Lourdes Central Catholic, Lewiston, and Parkview Christian.
 Pawnee City had two double-event winners – Mariah Willey in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump, and Shelby Hundley in the 400-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles. The Indians also got first place finishes from Jenna Habegger in the discus and Olivia Farwell in the pole vault.
 Lauren Klassmeyer of JCC won both the 800 and 1600-meter runs.
 In the girls’ A Division, Catherine Mick of BDS won three events – the 100-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, and pole vault. Jen Mick picked event wins in the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
 Sterling had six individual event wins – including Jordan Lempka in the shot put and discus and Taylor Cockerill in the high jump and 800-meter run, along with Wendy Sterkel in the 3200-meter run and Tara Hestermann in the 1600-meters.
 For Sacred Heart, Maggie Goltz placed second in the triple jump, Jade Hill was third in the 800-meter run and fourth in the 400-meter dash, Kathryn Bieker was third in the 3200-meter run, Elizabeth Magdanz was fourth in the pole vault, and Haylee Heits was third in the discus and fifth in the shot put.

 Team champion on the boys’ side of the meet with Johnson County Central in the A Division and Falls City Sacred Heart in the B Division.
 Sacred Heart won the B Division handily with 165 points. Sterling was second with 125, with Parkview Christian third with 70 points, with Meridian, Diller-Odell, BDS, Lourdes Central, and Lewiston rounding out the team standings.
 JCC totaled 152 points in the A Division. Pawnee City was second with 103 points, with Freeman third, Palmyra fourth, and Southern, HTRS, and Johnson-Brock rounding out team standings.
 Individually, Sterling’s Trey Trauernicht won three events – the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter runs. The Jets’ Chris Wenzl won both the 300-meter hurdles and the shot put.
 Sacred Heart won six individual events. The only multiple event winner was Yianni Haralabidis in the 100 and 200-meters. Also claiming event wins for the Irish were Chaz Dunn in the long jump, Austin Malone in the triple jump, Sean Strasheim in the pole vault, and Henry Arnold in the 400-meter dash. Sacred Heart also won the 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 meter relays.
 In the A Division, JCC’s Nate Liberty was a triple winner, claiming first in the 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and the triple jump. JCC also got first place finishes from Justin Kuhns in the 800-meter run, Aaron Johnson in the 1600-meter run, Spenser Sullivan in the high jump, and Jay Kuhns in the pole vault.
 Scott Borcher of Pawnee City won both the shot put and discus. The Indians’ also got a first place finish from Alex Menninga in the 3200-meter run.
 There were two meet records set Saturday. One came in the A Division boys’ long jump, where Derek Zimmerman of Freeman smashed Kale Wolken’s 2012 record with a leap of 23-feet. The old record was 22-feet, 2.5-inches. Shelby Hundley's time of 47-seconds in the 300-meter hurdles broke the 2010 record of Courtney VanGroningen by four-tenths of a second.
