Pair of Highland Scotties Volleyball Players From Area in McKayla Brezina & Ashley Dishon Sign with Bethel College

A pair of Highland Community College volleyball players in middle hitter and former Nemaha Valley Raider, McKayla Brezina and outside hitter and former Horton Charger, Ashley Dishon have signed letter of intents to play Volleyball at Bethel College next year.

Brezina earned All-conference honors at middle hitter and was recognized with NJCAA 1st Team All- District N honors after helping the Highland Scotties Volleyball team to a 13-17 record this year. She led the team in attacking with 255 kills on the season, over 100 more than second on the team, as she averaged 2.74 kills per set. McKayla also had 58 digs on the season, 26 service aces, which lead the team and 28 total blocks.

Bethel Volleyball Head Coach Marble stated that "McKayla will be a huge asset for Bethel both offensively and defensively.  She led her team in blocks for the season and is a great leader."

The Seneca native plans to major in Criminology as she will continue her volleyball career at Bethel College next year. While at Highland, her team was recognized with the NJCAA Academic Team Award, as Brezina has been strong academic student athlete. McKayla is the daughter of Leon and Danielle Brezina-Anderson.

Dishon ranked third on the team in kills registering 126 on the season, averaging 1.97 per set. The Horton native added 15 service aces, 53 digs and 18 total blocks to her stat line on the year as the Scotties went 13-17.

Coach Marble stated that, "Ashley is a very athletic outside that has great shot selection and has trained as a setter.  She sees the court well, understands how to score points, and excels in the classroom."

Ashley plans on majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education at Bethel, while continuing her volleyball career.

Fellow Highland teammate from Manhattan, Kansas Veronica Pitchford also signed her letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Bethel College, also.
