Sacred Heart Wins Opener Falls City Suffers OT Loss at State

 (KLZA) -- The Falls City Tigers suffered a heart-breaking overtime loss to Wahoo in the opening round of the Nebraska Boys State Tournament Thursday. 

After trailing by as many as 12 in the first quarter the Tigers fought back to take an 8 point lead in the third period.

Falls City went ahead 52-50 on a layup off an inbound play by Mitchell Harling with 2.7 seconds left but Wahoo threw it the length of the floor and the tipped ball went underneat for a layup to tie it and Wahoo won in overtime.  

Jorday Stoller led Falls city with 16 points, Mitchell Harling and Tyler DiGiacomo each had 10 for Falls City.

Falls City Sacred Heart opened D2 State Tournament play with a 58-50 win over Leyton.  After falling behind early the Irish came back for the victory advancing to the semi-final Friday night against Bancroft-Rosalie.

Austin Malone led the Irish with 18 points, Chaz Dunn had 13 and Matt Goltz 12 to lead Sacred Heart.
