B&B Falcon Boys Continue Season with Strong Win over Fowler

Flying high form making the State tournament the B&B Falcons continued their high by opening the 1A-DII State tournament with a win over Fowler 59-44, earning the upset via seed as the six beating the three seed Wednesday in Hays.

The Falcons took the lead on the first bucket of the game by senior, Cameron Haug and never trailed in the competition, extending their lead throughout the contest. B&B soared out to a 25-15 lead at the half and used great defense and balanced scoring to hold the 10-point lead.

Out of the half, Fowler made an early push at the Falcons but B&B pushed back and continued to pad their lead on the way to their 11th appearance in the final four at the State tournament in school history, winning 59-44. Falcons defense stymied the Goldbugs offense all night holding them to 26% from the floor (13-50) and 22.2% from three-point land (6-27). While B&B 's offense flew high shooting 51.4% from the floor (18-35) and was 20-25 from the free throw line (80%).

Goldbugs were led by senior, Taylin Bird who scored 28 points, hitting all six of the three-point shots made by Fowler, fellow senior, Ty Clark added 10 points.

Falcons were led by their bench on the night with the duo of senior, Blake Deters and sophomore, Luke Holthaus who both tallied double figures finishing with 11 and 16 points, respectively. Deters hit three three-pointers on the night, while Holthaus was 4-6 from the floor and 8-9 from the free throw line, also grabbing five rebounds. Senior, Dustin Rottinghaus added 15 points on the night making 9-10 free throws and grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists. Haug set the tone early with eight points on the night, all in the first half, while grabbing five rebounds, too.

With the win the B&B Falcons continue their season assuring themselves at minimum a fourth place finish at State in Hays, while moving to 18-7 on the season. Falcons will play Wallace County in the semifinals on Friday at 8:15pm and the game will be on 92.1 KMZA. Wallace County defeated Central Christian 69-46 in their first round game. (Other semifinal will be St. John's Tipton vs. Chetopa)
