Another season for Jeff County North and the result was the same. Five straight state appearances for the Lady Chargers and they did it by beating Valley Falls 60-43.

JCN only scored 14 points in the opening frame and led by five, but it was the second quarter that blew the door off the hinges. Nineteen points in the second period and the Lady Chargers were up 33-18 at halftime.

Senior Jacee Kramer reached the 2,000-point plateau after scoring 29 points to pace JCN. Fellow senior Jamie Navinskey chipped in 14 points. With the win, the Jeff County North senior group now has been to the state tournament every season of their career. Also, this group of senior girls sports a 96.5 record in four years together.

It’s been a special for the Lady Chargers, who tout an unblemished 23-0 record. Normally, that would earn a number one seed at the Class 2A State Tournament, but since Central Plains is also 23-0, Jefferson County North is the two seed. When JCN makes the trip to Bramlage Coliseum on Wednesday, the volleyball season might be on the Lady Chargers’ minds. Hillsboro defeated JCN in the state volleyball championship and the Lady Trojans take on the Lady Chargers as the seven seed.
Live coverage of the game can be heard on KAIR 93.7 FM and online at mscsports.net starting at 6:30 on Wednesday, March 12th.
