After two years as the Head Coach of the Highland CC Scotties football program Ryan Held has accepted the Head coaching job at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

Held in just his two seasons at the helm turned around the Scotties football team going 2-7 in his first year and then finishing 6-4 this past year and helping the Scotties to their first ever appearance in the Jayhawk Conference playoffs in school history. Scotties also enjoyed a big road win over Coach Held’s old team in Butler, as the Scotties won 23-21 over the Grizzles who were ranked third in the country at the time.

The Scotties played Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College this past season with the Golden Norsemen of NEO A&M winning 47-14. NEO A&M was ranked #14 in the country at the time of the game.

Held who has ties to Oklahoma previously coaching at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Panhandle State University takes over a program that went 3-6 last season under a first year Head Coach, Sherard Poteete who left the program to be the offensive coordinator at Southeast Missouri State University. Held will be introduced at official press conference at 11 am on Thursday at the Crossland Athletic Center according to the Miami News Record in Miami, Oklahoma.

With the departure of Held, Highland starts the search for a new coach to help build upon the structure put in place by Held the last two years.
