Eager to get back to action on the mat the Holton Wildcats hosted Spring Hill in a dual to open the 2014 portion of the season and the Wildcats pounced all over the Broncos of Spring Hill to win the Dual in dominating fashion, 53-15.
Holton started the day off with six straight wins in the weight classes of 106, 113, 120, 126, 132 and 138lbs to take a convincing lead in the Dual early against Spring Hill. First three wins of the day for the Wildcats came via the pin as Jameson Lutz topped his opponent at 106lbs in 1:48, while Dominic Buterakos followed his teammate up with a pinfall win at 113lbs in 5:46. Tyler Price then made it three straight pinfall victories with his first period pin win at 120lbs for the Wildcats.
Next up Justin Pool continued the Wildcat momentum on the day as he took to the mat at 126lbs and outdueled his opponent to a 10-5 decision victory. Jonah Lutz then earned the fourth pinfall win on the day for Holton topping his opponent in just 52 seconds at 132lbs, while Justin Rieschick followed at 138lbs with a 11-3 major decision win, giving Holton a 31-0 lead at that point.
Spring Hill earned a win at 145lbs as Holton Wildcat, Dakota Colhouer fell in his bout via pinfall, but the Wildcats responded winning the next three matches. Andrew Rieschick took home a win at 160lbs winning via major decision 10-1, while Kyle Mick won at 170lbs via forfeit and Clayton Folk notched the fifth pinfall win of the day for the Wildcats winning with a time of 3:38 at 182lbs.
Broncos of Spring Hill managed two more wins on the day at 195lbs annd 220lbs; Spring Hill won 195lbs via forfeit and 220lbs via a tight decision as Bradley Hooper for Holton only lost 4-3.
Wildcats capped off the day with a 5-2 decision victory by heavyweight (285lbs), Cooper Zeller giving Holton the 53-15 win and continuing their momentum from the season.
Holton gears up for more wrestling action on Saturday January 11th as they compete in the Burlington Invitational.
