Sabetha Tennis Coach Alicia Deters Named Class 3-2-1A Coach of the Year

It was a great year on the tennis courts for the Lady Bluejays of Sabetha as they enjoyed a stellar season under Head Coach, Alicia Deters that earned Coach Deters Class 3-2-1A “Coach of the Year” honors from the Kansas Tennis Coaches Association.

Coach Deters lead her team to a fourth place finish at the state competition this season as four Lady Bluejays made the 2013 state tourney. The doubles tandem of Amy Wysong and Ellie Montgomery continued their strong performances on the court this year all the way to a 4-1 record at State and fifth place finish, while finishing the season 31-4 on the court under the tutelage of Coach Deters.

Deters also saw a pair of singles players earn trips to the State tournament and Lexi Wenger posted a 12th place performance finishing the state tournament 3-4 in competition. While, Alexa Menold also qualified for State and going 1-2 in action in the 3-2-1A State tournament.

Not only did the Bluejays have a strong showing at the State tournament but they did throughout the year as many girls performed well under Coach Deters.

In doubles competition the tandem of Jordyn Wells and Courtney Plattner matured throughout the season and finished with several top flight performances, while the teams of gals like Nicole Brey and Lauren Menold each had multiple solid singles performances on the season.

Coach Deters developed a strong group of Lady Bluejays that flew through the tennis season enjoy plenty of success and helped her earn Class 3-2-1A “Coach of the Year” honors from the Kansas Tennis Coaches Association.
