Dominating opponents all season was what the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers have done all season and on the verge of their third football state title in school history they continued to dominate their foes blasting the LaCrosse Leopards 61-0 to capture a perfect 13-0 season and the 2-1A State Championship.

The game started off with a methodical drive down the field, amassing 80-yards and was capped off with an 11-yard TD run by senior, Trevor Mars to give Centralia-Wetmore 7-0 early lead. The Panther rushing attack and defense continued to run wild and stonewall LaCrosse throughout the game.

Senior, Sam Steinlage the "Community National Bank Player to Bank On” on KMZA radio scored the next three TD's all in the second quarter to give Centralia-Wetmore a 29-0 lead at the half, as Steinlage accounted for four rushing TD's and ran for 254 yards on 14 carries. Steinlage posted an average of 18.1 yards per carry in the contest as Centralia-Wetmore ran for 532 yards as a team, with 54 of their 55 plays being running plays, giving them a 9.9 yards per carry average as a team in the game.

Joining, Steinlage in the endzone party for the Panthers as Devin Rempe, JT Rosine, Jonathan Johnson and Chad Ballenger all added rushing TD's in the second half for the Panthers rushing attack out of the single wing formation. Rosine posted 81 yards rushing and Mars added 65 yards rushing of the teams 532 yards.

But the defense again led the way for the Panthers holding down another opponent and stymieing anything the Leopards threw at them. LaCrosse managed only 138 total yards of offense in the contest (71 rushing, 67 passing), only managing 10 first downs throughout the game compared to Centralia-Wetmore's 21. The defense didn't just stop the Leopards but ended plenty of their drives forcing five turnovers and blocking a punt, some of which set up great field position for the Panthers to capitalize on. Junior, Darrian Turner nabbed the first interception of the game early, before leaving the contest with an injury while on offense, but that sparked an interception barrage as four other Panthers snatched interceptions against the Leopards. Rosine, Rempe, Wyatt VanDorn and Braden Deters all grabbed interceptions for the Panthers, while Brett Burdiek lead the defense with 10 tackles.

Joey Ferron added seven tackles and a sack, while Hunter Haufler and Nick Howertown combined for a sack, also as the Panthers had two sacks and seven total tackles for a loss as a team in the 61-0 win.

The Panthers came into the season with "4:44" on the mind the time left in the 2012 State title game that saw Meade comeback to take away a state title from the Panthers and that proved to be a motivating force for Centralia-Wetmore throughout the year.

With the win the Panthers capped off a season of perfection at 13-0 winning the school's third state title in history while outscoring their opponents 660-67 this season, while improving to 67-9 since 2008 when Centralia and Wetmore partnered up for football.
