Rivalry matches usually aren't normally one side on most occasions but after the first half B&B put on an aerial display on offense and a defensive display of dominance to dominant the third quarter and earn the 60-14 win sub-state matchup against Hanover.

The game started off much like it was expected too, a battle with each team trading nice plays on offense but the defense's coming up with stops. Then the Falcons offense took flight with 38.1 seconds left in the first quarter from 20-yards out as Dustin Rottinghaus hit Brandon Bergman with the first of nine Falcon passing touchdowns in the game. B&B was step with the ball on the Hanover 20 after senior Derek Mueting blocked a Wildcat punt.

Hanover answered and took the 8-6 lead after Andrew Bruna punched in the ball from two-yards out and with the two-point conversion took the lead.

B&B answered themselves as the offensive started to take control of the game as Rottinghaus went to the air again finding Bergman for the second time for TD, this time from 15-yards out and after the two-point conversion Falcons regained the lead at 14-8.

Wildcats not stifled battled back and Andrew Bruna added his second rushing TD of the game tying the contest after the two-point conversion was unsuccessful for Hanover, making it a 14-14 ball game.

Falcons changed that moving down the field to score again this time Rottinghaus falling backwards out of bounds threw across the field and found Dylan Schmitz in the back of the endzone for a nine-yard TD, giving B&B a 22-14 lead.

Hanover looked to answer with a little time left in the half but Bruna threw an interception to Schmitz to end the first half and send it to the half with B&B on top 22-14.

Coming out of the half the third quarter was quickly established in favor of B&B as they took advantage of two Hanover fumbles and three Wildcat interceptions just in the third quarter; six turnovers overall and a blocked punt for Hanover in the game. Taking advantage of the extra possessions the B&B Falcons opened up the sky and made it rain footballs as Rottinghaus tossed four TDs in the quarter and Bergman even threw one, too.

Rottinghaus connected with Bergman on the first score of the second half, giving Bergman three TD catches on the day, as he caught six passes for 124 yards. Then it was Blake Deters turn to get into the scoring action as Rottinghaus found him for 15 and 21 yard TD passes, but Deters didn't stop there as he caught the next TD pass too this one coming on a halfback pass from Bergman for 42 yards. Rottinghaus and B&B capped off the scoring in the third quarter with another TD pass this one a 31-yard pass to Cameron Haug.

The Falcons driving as the third quarter ended lead 54-14 and were a TD away from point-ruling their rival Hanover and on the first play of the fourth quarter the final nail in the coffin was hit as Rottinghaus hit Schmitz for a 15-yard TD, giving the Falcons the 60-14 win.

Rottinghaus finished the game 21-40 for 317 yards and eight TD passes and only one interception; in the process of his 300+yard passing day Dustin surpassed the 4,000 yard mark passing in his career and 2,000 mark this season. Deters caught nine passes for 142 yards and three TDs.

On defense the Falcons on defense saw interceptions by Dylan Schmitz, Cole Deters and Rottinghaus twice, while team recovered two fumbles and Mueting had a blocked punt. While the pass defense was a wasteland for Hanover passes with B&B breaking up passes they didn't intercept and holding the Wildcat offense to 193 yards of offense.

Hanover wraps up their season 8-3 with the loss, while B&B with the win made it nine in a row against the Wildcats and punched their ticket their sixth straight state championship game as they look to go out on top in their final year when they will play B&B Falcons football's final game next Saturday, November 23rd in Newton with kickoff at 2:00pm against Sharon Springs-Wallace County (listen on 92.1 KMZA -- pregame will start at 1:30pm).
