Bobcat Women's Basketball Team Loses Season Opener

 After leading by as many as 12 in the first half and five at halftime, the Peru State women's basketball team could not hold off a second-half rally by the visiting Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) Coyotes. The Coyotes built a nine-point lead of their own in the second half and eventually held on to win 82-81.

It was the first win of the season for KWU as they improved to 1-2. For the Bobcats, they fell to 0-1 under new head coach Joan Albury.

Three Bobcats finished in double digits in scoring and were led by Shelbie Hess who finished with 22 points. Hess made eight of 15 field goals, including going three of six from behind the arc. Hess finished the game with a double-double as she had a game-high 13 rebounds.

Sydnee Young added 14 points and four rebounds while Stuart finished with 11 points and four caroms. 

Jasmine Tate had nine points and dished out a game-high eight assists. Tate also had six rebounds and five steals.

The Bobcats will be heading to Wayne on Saturday night to face the Wildcats of Wayne State College in an exhibition game for Peru State. The game will be played at 7:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, the Bobcats will host Mid-America Christian University in a game starting at 6 p.m.
