In just his second year at the helm Head Coach, Ryan Held has the Highland Scotties football program on the uptick taking a tremendous leap to uncharted territory in just year two as the Scotties played in the conference playoffs for the first time ever.

Scotties went on the road on Sunday and took on the tough Butler Grizzles who Highland got the best of in El Dorado in the regular season, giving Butler their only loss of the season. This time the Scotties suffered the loss falling 38-7 to Butler.

Butler started the scoring in the game notching a 7-0 lead with about 7:20 left in the first quarter, but Highland responded and with 3:39 left in the first quarter Scottie quarterback, Brandon Bergeron tossed a 11 yard touchdown pass to Durwin Jones to even the score up at 7-7. Butler then regained the lead in the second quarter on a rushing touchdown to lead 14-7 and then a fumble by each traded field position back and forth. Before the half the Scotties had to punt into the wind and the wind proved to be on Butler's side sending the Highland punt backwards for a -19 yard punt and down at the Highland 10 yard line and Butler added a touchdown before the half to lead 21-7.

The second half was all Butler posting 17 more points all in the third quarter to push them on to the Region VI Championship matchup.

Scotties offense posted 240 yards through the air but struggled to run the ball as the Scotties finished with -39 yards rushing in the contest to Butler's 254 yards rushing. The Grizzles did onyl manage 95 yards passing in the contest.

Highland with the loss falls to 6-4 this season but the Scotties took tremendous steps forward in just year two under Coach Held winning four more games than last year when they posted a 2-7 record.
