Area Runners Qualify for Nebraska State Cross Country Meet

The Johnson County Central boys Cross Country team placed second that the district meet Thursday at Malcolm to qualify for the state meet next week. 

The Thunderbirds had 62 points,  Yutan won the meet with 21.

Individually for JCC freshman Samuel Saldivar placed 6th.  The rest of the team members are Aaron Johnson, Garrett Hamilton, Wyatt DeRoe, Brady Parrish and Spenser Sullivan.

Pawnee City sophomore Alex Menninga qualified for state with a 15th place finish at the district.

In Class C girls districts Fairbury won the title with Syracuse placing second.  

Auburn senior Melissa Davison was the top individual finisher, qualifying for state with a third place finish.  Teammate Lindsey Mertes, a junior qualifies for state with a 13th place finish.

For the Falls City girls two qualified for the state Cross Country meet.  Lainey Larsen a sophomore finished 12th and Krystal Samqua, a junior placed 15th. 

For Syracuse Kimberly Lowman led the way with a 7th place finish, Sydney Paden was 9th, Kaylee Hartman was 10th.  Madeline Wilkinson is the other runner qualifying for the state meet for the Rockets.  

The Auburn girls placed 5th with 66 points and Falls City was one spot back with 69.

On the boys side in Class C the Syracuse team qualified for state with a second place finish.  The Rockets had 55 points.  Milford dominated the meet with 16 points for the title.

Rocket qualifiers include Coleman Orchard who placed 7th, Keegan Pope who was 10th, Cody Plester placed 12th,  Tommy Lowman, Derek Weiler and Riley Porter round out the team. 

Auburn had one qualified for state.  Senior Dakota Groves finished 11th,

The Bulldog boys were 7th with 111 points and Falls City was 9th with 155.
