Holton Girls Golf Takes Third at Regionals and Qualifies for State

2013 Class 4A KC Piper Girls Golf Regional Tournament -- full results

It's been a great year on the golf course for the Holton Wildcats girl’s golf team winning multiple tournaments and finishing in the top in many others and that trend continued at Regionals.

Wildcats needed a top three finish at Regionals to qualify as a team for the Class 4A State tournament and that they got taking home third at Dubs Dread golf course in Kansas City. Holton finished the day posting a 424 as a team finishing only behind KC Piper and Hayden.

Senior's, Kyrstie Miller and Sam Herring lead the way for the Wildcats with their top performances. Miller took home a sixth place finish after posting a round of 97, just one-stroke off of a top five finish, while Herring posted a round of 103, finishing in 11th place.

Rounding out the team score was sophomore, Anne Bowser and junior, Hannah Deegan who posted rounds of 105 and 119, respectively to place 13th and 22nd overall on the day. Sophomore, Maddie Foster joined her teammates in the top 25 on the day finishing 23rd after scoring a round of 122 in competition. One other sophomore competed for the Wildcats as Quinn Holoday posted a round of 126 just two strokes off of cracking the top 25 scores at Regionals.

One other area girl’s golfer qualified for the State competition as Jeff West Tiger, Allie Dieter finished 15th place posting a round of 106 and was one of the top five individual scores not from the top three teams, thus qualifying for State.

Overall it’s been a great year with the Holton Wildcats having senior leadership lead the way with the teams youth playing well also to propel them to the State tournament coming up Monday October 21st at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg, KS.
