Peru State Bobcats win Double OT Thriller at MidAmerica Nazarene

(KTNC) -  Greg Conry’s 23-yard field goal in the second overtime period gave the Peru State Bobcats a 41-38 victory over Mid-America Nazarene University, in a wild Heart of America Athletic Conference football game Saturday in Olathe, Kansas.
 Peru State got out to a big lead early, taking a 21-0 lead after one quarter.  The ‘Cats added another touchdown in the second quarter to take a 28-0 lead, before the Pioneers scored their first touchdown off a blocked punt recovered in the end zone.
 Peru State led 28-7 at halftime, but Mid-America Nazarene scored three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter to tie the score at 28-all.
 The teams traded touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, and they went into overtime tied at 35.
 Each team kicked a field goal in the first overtime session.  Peru State’s Conry connected from 24 yards and the Pioneers’ Michael Brewer answered with a 30-yard field goal.
 In the second overtime, Peru State recovered a Mid-America Nazarene fumble after the Pioneers got the ball to the Bobcat two-yard line. That set up Conry’s game-winning field goal.
 For the game, Ethan Bray and Tyler Audsley had two rushing touchdowns each for Peru State.  The ‘Cats rushed 82 times for 438 yards, and finished with 505 yards of total offense.  Bray finished with 162 yards rushing and Audsley had 135 yards on the ground.
 Mid-America Nazarene racked up 425 yards of total offense, 343 of those yards coming through the air. 
 With the win, Peru State improves to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the HAAC, while Mid-America Nazarene is now 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
 Peru State hosts Culver-Stockton College Saturday afternoon.  The game will be played at Jug Brown Stadium in Falls City, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
