As the cross country season starts to come to a close area Twin Valley League teams and runners took to the course one final time before the league meet coming up Thursday, October 17th.

Centralia, Frankfort, Axtell, Washington County, Valley Heights and Clifton-Clyde all took to the course on Saturday (October 12th) at the Riley County Invite and all finished the day with a top 20 placer on the day.

The boy’s competition had the best performances from the TVL teams with four runners all from different schools registering top 10 finishes. Washington County Tiger, Dylan Hodgson paced the way with a second place performance posting a time of 16:38.94. Frankfort Wildcat, Adam finished right behind him racing his way to a third place finish behind a time of 16:52.57. While, Axtell Eagle, Tracy Schmitz took home a sixth place performance (17:49.11) and Valley Heights Mustang, Adrian Pishney placed eighth on the day (17:52.43). 

On the girls side of competition only one area racer posted a top 10 finish in competition as Centralia Panther, Sadie Jones raced her way to a time of 17:21.69 earning an eighth place finish on the day. Axtell and Clifton-Clyde girl’s squads did see a top 20 finisher at the competition with Susan Peschel leading the charge for Axtell taking 17th (18:20.43) and Abby Sikes of Clifton-Clyde finishing right behind her in 18th (18:20.78).

It's down to the final stretch of action for the cross country runners before Regionals on October 26th and all the runners from the Twin Valley League turn their attention to the league meet coming up next Thursday (October 12th).
