The class C district softball tournament got underway today in Syracuse.
In round one action second seed Falls City improved to 18-10 with a 9-1 win over Johnson County Central. In the second round the Tigers won a hard-fought 2-1 game with the third seeded Syracuse Rockets.
The Tigers now play in the semi-finals Friday at noon against Southern. Both teams are undefeated in the double elimination tournament.
#5 seed Freeman dispatched 4th seed Wilber-Clatonia 10-0. Freeman then lost to top seed Southern 5-4.
In a play-back game Johnson County Central blanked Conestoga 11-0. The Thunderbirds meet up next with Freeman this afternoon.
Syracuse is now playing this afternoon against Wilber-Clatonia. The loser is eliminated. The winners of the Freeman vs. Johnson County Central game and the Syracuse vs. Wilber-Clatonia games will advance to meet Friday at noon.
Action in the double elimination tournament will continue on Friday and will wrap up with a championship game at 3:30 p-m with a second title game if needed at 5:15 p-m.
