Looking to build upon their momentum from a big win over the fourth ranked Butler Grizzles the Highland Scotties headed out on the road for the second straight week this time taking on the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson.

Scotties fell down early, but managed to find a groove on offense the second half but dug too deep of a hole early to make the comeback falling 36-20 on the road to Hutchinson.

From the start of the horn the Blue Dragons moved the ball with effectiveness controlling the first quarter on both sides of the ball pushing out to an early 14-0 lead after a pair of touchdowns. Hutchinson added two more touchdowns in the second quarter, but the Scotties got on the board also as kicked a 33-yard field goal to make it a 27-3 score at the half in favor of the Blue Dragons.

Hutchinson continued their offensive effectiveness notching a field goal shortly into the second half, but the Scotties offense soon found a groove after that and marched down the field notching their first touchdown of the game as quarterback, Brandon Bergeron connected with Austin Moses for a nine-yard touchdown pass to make it 30-10.

The Blue Dragons were not rattled as they answered with a touchdown drive of their own on a pass from their quarterback, Luke Barnes who was 26-34 for 310 yards with two touchdown passes. Scotties answered back with a big 64-yard pass play as Bergeron hit Brandon Peters on the reception for the touchdown and it was 36-17. Bergeron finished the game 25-44 for 320 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, while Peters lead the Scottie in receiving with six catches for 107 yards.

Scotties started to threaten again in the fourth and then had a settle for a field goal as Pasley kicked a 23-yarder to bring Highland within 16 points at 36-20.

After a missed field goal by Hutchinson the Scotties needed another scoring drive and march down the field with the passing attack again but the stalled out when Bergeron's pass inside the redzone was picked off by Hutchinson, all but ending the Scotties comeback attempt in the game.

The Scotties came up short in their comeback attempt after having three turnovers, a 27 point deficit at one point in the game and only running the ball for 30 total yards against Hutchinson. Highland falls to 3-3 on the season with the loss and 2-2 in conference play. Scotties now return home to see a 3-2 Coffeyville squad come to Highland next Saturday with kickoff set for 1:00pm.
