It was a border battle volleyball tournament in Axtell on Saturday as four teams from Kansas took on four teams from Nebraska, all facing off against each other in the tournament action.

Four Kansas schools all hailed from the Twin Valley League with the host Axtell Eagles, Frankfort Wildcats, Blue Valley-Randolph Rams and Linn Bulldogs. While the Nebraksa schools consisted of Falls City Sacred Heart Irish, Pawnee City Indians, Diller-Odell Griffins and Lewiston Tigers.

At the end of the day it was the Nebraska schools highlighting the action as three of the four took home first, second and third place on the day. After pool play Falls City Sacred, Pawnee City and Diller-Odell all advanced to the championship bracket, while Linn was the only Kansas school to move to the winner's bracket.

Falls City Sacred Heart topped Pawnee City in straight sets and Diller-Odell took down Linn in three sets in the semifinals. That meant it was an Irish versus Griffin championship match and the Irish came out on top in straight sets to finish the day 5-0 and take first place, with Diller-Odell taking second. Pawnee City and Linn faced off for third place and the Indians won in straight sets to take third and give Linn fourth place.

The remaining four schools: Axtell, Frankfort, Blue Valley-Randolph and Lewiston all moved to the consolation bracket after pool play. Axtell and Frankfort both won in straight sets over Blue Valley and Lewiston to then vie for fifth place, as the Wildcats got the best of the Eagles in three sets to take fifth, giving Axtell sixth place. Blue Valley and Lewiston meet up looking to battle for seventh place and at least one win on the day and the Rams won in three sets to take seventh place, giving Lewiston eighth.
