Jefferson County North, McLouth with strong performances at Troy Invitational

On Thursday, September 26th, area teams McLouth and Jefferson County North challenged each other for the top spot in the Troy Invitational.

In boys competition, McLouth received the narrow victory. Ryan Bristol led the way placing second with a time of 18:53.23. Zach Whaley wasn’t far behind, finishing fifth (19:49.15). Helping the first place finish was Logan Hoobler (19:52.76) and Jordan Butler (19:53.97) who placed seventh and eighth respectively. Rounding out the day for McLouth was Ethan Doores (20:21.08) and Shane Adams (20:31.09) with top-17 performances.
 
Jefferson County North boys received votes to be in the polls last week and the second-place finish will help the Chargers. Ty Brickell was the top performer, finishing third with a time of 19:08.97. Ted Sharp placed fourth (19:39.24), Brysen Weishaar finished ninth (19:54.77), Spencer Hubbard placed 12th (20:05.27) and Thomas Steichen finished 14th (20:16.84).
 
Riverside placed third as a team with the top performer on the meet. Cole Hinton finished with a time of 18:44.51. Tristan Hinton was close behind, placing sixth (19:50.48).
 
On the girls side, it was all Jefferson County North. Carissa McAfee (17:25.18) and Laramie Leakey (18:30.25) took the top two spots in the meet. Julie Schrick placed fourth (19:27.48), Abbie Weishaar finished sixth (20:02.78), Lyndsey Vittitow placed seventh (20:11.96) and Molly Bassette placed ninth (20:23.48).
 
Riverside finished fourth, but Kaile Elder placed third with a solid time of 18:47.86.

McLouth’s next meet is next Thursday, October 3rd, while JCN has a longer break with its next meet at the Centralia Invitational on Saturday, October  5th.
