Five Area Teams Continue to Highlight KVA Volleyball Rankings in Week 3

Volleyball season is in full force and many area teams are enjoying success as five area teams continue to remain ranked as the week three polls have been released by the Kansas Volleyball Association.

Three of the five area teams ranked moved up one spot in the polls this week, as B&B, Centralia and Santa Fe Trail all move up and Jefferson County North and Washington County remained at their previous spots in Class 2A.

In Class 1A-Division II, one week after falling down to number two in the ranking the Falcons of B&B regained the top spot in the polls after winning the Hiawatha Invite, by topping Centralia in the championship in three sets and then improving to 18-2 on the season with a pair of wins on Tuesday night against Onaga and Frankfort.

Class 1A-Division I continues to house the Centralia Panthers as one of the top teams in the classification as the Panthers are 16-3 on the season after taking second place at the Hiawatha Invite this past weekend and sweeping Linn in a dual on Tuesday night. The Panthers started the season ranked third and finally move up this week to number two.

Class 2A, houses a pair of area teams in the Chargers of Jefferson County North and the Tigers of Washington County, both stayed put in the rankings at third and fourth in the polls. The Chargers sit at 15-4 on the season after a third place performance at the Hiawatha Invite and a pair of Northeast Kansas League wins on Tuesday. The Tigers of Washington County sits at fourth in the rankings with an 11-2 record after a pair TVL wins over Doniphan West and Hanover recently.

Class 4A hosts the lone other area team ranked in the KVA rankings as the Santa Fe Trail Chargers continue to charge past the competition to a perfect 13-0 record thus far this season, after sweeping a dual against Holton on Tuesday.

All five teams continue to enjoy successful seasons on the volleyball court thus far tand look to do so for the remainder of the season, while other teams are looking to challenge in the area leagues.
