It was the biggest win in quite some time for the Highland Scotties football program as they took down the fourth ranked Butler Grizzles this past weekend on the road in a 23-21 win with late heroics to earn the win.
Freshman quarterback, Brandon Bergeron helped the Scotties to upset as the Scotties saw their 17-0 lead dissipate and Butler took a 21-17 lead late in game, but the Scotties recovered a Butler fumble and that set up Bergeron and company to go for a game winning drive and that they did.
Bergeron moved the Scotties down the field and tossed a five-yard pass to Desmond McGee with eight seconds left to give Highland the lead and ultimately the 23-21 win. Bergeron finished the contest 44-57 for 294 yards and that game winning touchdown pass, earning him Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference "Offensive Player of the Week" honors. Brandon's 44 completions set a single game record for the Scotties.
Highland moved to 3-2 on the season with that win and next heads out on the road to take on Hutchinson this next weekend.
