As the fall sports season springs up and teams gear up for another season it's the time of year were preseason honors are handed out to players and teams in anticipation of the upcoming season.

Former Jeff West Tiger runner, Trey Burton (Meriden, KS) enters his senior season at Southwestern College and comes in as one of the top returning runners in the KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference). As one of the top returners this season Burton comes into the year as a 2013 preseason selection to the men's KCAC league cross country team; he's joined by a pair of his teammates giving Southwestern the most preseason selections on the men's squad.

Burton last year was a part of the Southwestern squad that won the KCAC league crown and took home 18th place as a team in the 2012 NAIA Cross Country Championships. The former Jeff West Tiger, finished 15th at the KCAC league meet (27:53) and competed at Nationals. On top of that he also competed for the Southwestern track and field team and was part of the 4x800 meter relay team that competed at the NAIA Outdoor Championships who finished 20th (8:02.08).

Trey two years ago, as a sophomore earned "Most Improved Runner" honors on the Southwestern squad and finished 33rd in the marathon in the 2012 NAIA Track & Field Championships.

Burton is primed in his final year, to help the Moundbuilders vie for another KCAC title and make noise at the NAIA championships yet again.
