Former Husker Volleyball Player from Nebraska City Named Rutgers A-D

       A former Cornhusker Volleyball player who grew up in Nebraska City has been hired at Rutgers as the new athletic Director.

49 year old Julie Hermann has been the senior associates athletic director and senior woman administrator at the University of Louisville for the past 15 years.

Prior to that Hermann was the volleyball coach at the University of Tennessee for 6 seasons. She spent one year as an assistant coach for USA Volleyball.

Hermann earned All-Big Eight honors as a volleyball player of the Huskers from 1981 – 84.  She was a part of four conference championships and played in four NCAA tournaments. 

Rutgers which is joining the Big 10 Conference has been looking for a new AD since Tim Pernetti resigned on April 5, part of the fallout form the scandal over men’s basketball coach Mike Rice accused of kicking, pushing and throwing balls at players.
