The official pairings for the 2013 Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Baseball Championship Series was recently released by the conference's office.

The HAAC tournament will be played May 1-4 at the Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph, Mo.  Three games will be played on each of the first three days.  Saturday's games will be determined by how many teams are still remaining at that point.

The Peru State Bobcat baseball team earned the second seed in the tournament by virtue of winning the Western Division in conference play with an 18-8 mark.  The Central Methodist University Eagles took the top seed with a 19-7 record in HAAC play and earned the automatic berth into the NAIA Championships to be played later in May.

The other seeds in the tournament went to:  third – MidAmerica Nazarene University; fourth – Evangel University; fifth – Avila University, and sixth – Benedictine College.

The Bobcats will face the Eagles of Avila on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.  Other first round games include Central Methodist versus Benedictine at noon and MidAmerica Nazarene against Evangel at 7 p.m.

With a win, Peru State would face the winner between MidAmerica Nazarene-Evangel at 7 p.m. on Thursday.  A loss would put the 'Cats in the losers' bracket and would face the loser of Central Methodist-Benedictine at noon on Thursday.
