(KTNC) - Falls City Sacred Heart boys and Freeman girls were the team champions of the Lewiston Invitational Track meet Tuesday.
The Freeman girls finished with 134 points. Wilber-Clatonia had 81 points for second place. Sacred Heart finished 4th with 51-and-a-half points, just ahead of Sterling in 5th place. Diller-Odell was 6th, Johnson-Brock 8th, and HTRS 10th in the 11 team meet.
Individually, Marissa Haynes of Freeman had led the Falcons with three first place finishes, winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes and the long jump. Freeman also got first place finishes from Morgan Lenners in the 1600-meter run; Jessica Benton in the 300-meter hurdles; Carley Remmers in the high jump; and Kylie Trobee in the shot put. Maggie Goltz had Sacred Heart’s only first place finish in the triple jump; Liz Railsback of HTRS was first in the pole vault; and Jordan Lempka of Sterling won the discus.
The Sacred Heart boys totaled 92 points to win a close team race. Wilber-Clatonia had 85 points for second, Freeman was 3rd with 84 points, and Sterling had 77 points for 4th place. Diller-Odell was 5th, HTRS 8th, Lewiston 11th, and Johnson-Brock 12th.
Sacred Heart won two individual events and two relays. Clay Finck won the 100-meter dash, Sean Strasheim won the pole vault. Sacred Heart won the 4-by-400-meter relay with the team of Chaz Dunn, Yianni Haralabidis, Sawyer Kean, and Lane Barnhill. Finck, Haralabidis, Dunn, and Barnhill teamed to win the 4-by-100-meter relay.
Trey Trauernicht of Sterling won both the 800 and 1600-meter runs, the Jets’ Michael Lucas won the high jump, and Sterling won the 4-by-800-meter relay. Freeman’s Derek Zimmerman won the triple jump and long jump; Scott Hammon of HTRS won the shot put; and Freeman’s Cole Schuster won the 110-meter hurdles.
