Onaga Buffalo, Logan Marten Goes Wild in State Record Game
Logan Marten

The final record to the season might be just 2-7 for the Onaga Buffaloes this year in their first season in 8-Man football but the way the season finished it will be something that Onaga and their fans never forget.

The Buffaloes wrapped up the season on the road taking on Valley Falls in a battle of teams looking to get that second win to just finish the season strong, but when the game was over it will go down as much more than that. Both teams combined to score 182 points and set a new Kansas State record for most combined points in an 8-Man football game breaking the previous mark by eight points. The also featured four other State records and also one herculean effort from Onaga’s quarterback, Logan Marten.

Marten totaled over 650 yards of total offense himself in the game helping guide Onaga to the 114-68 win over Valley Falls. The Buffalo senior ran for 324 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns, while passing for 330 yards on 15-20 with nine touchdowns, which ties a single game 8-Man State record for most touchdown passes in a game. Logan was a big play machine all night as he ran for touchdowns of 39, 37, 39, 61 and 72-yards while throwing a 27-yard touchdown to Brandon Merriman and then eight touchdowns to Tyler Herman (20, 29, 21, 17, 47, 47, 36 & 16-yards).

On the year Marten totaled 1,074 yards rushing on 137 carries with 18 touchdowns, while going 52-106 passing for 843 yards with 13 touchdowns. He also led the team in tackles with over 130 tackles on the season.

The season might have not gone the way the Buffaloes would have liked in the win-loss column but it ended with a win and one for the record books that will not be forgotten.
