Football 8-Man - Valley Falls vs Onaga 10/27/2016 7:00 PM

Onaga and Valley Falls combined for 182 total points on the night setting a new 8-Man State record for most combined points in a single game (previous record 174 in 2014 - Otis-Bison and Kinsley). The teams combined for over 1,400 yards of total offense in the game. 

Onaga led 32-6 after the first quarter and carried a 54-22 lead into the half but two early second half fumbles and TDs from Valley Falls cut the lead to 16 early in the third quarter. Onaga would continue however to outscore Valley Falls the rest of the way. 

Logan Marten ran for 324 yards on 21 carries with 5 TDs and was 15-20 for 327 yards with 9 TDs (ties a single game 8-Man record for TD passes in game). Tyler Herman was Marten's favorite target catching 11 passes for 270 yards with 8 TDs (a new 8-Man single game record). Brandon Merriman also caught a TD pass in the contest and Brendon Melvin added a TD run. 

Valley Falls ran roughly 119 plays in the contest with Tyler Lockhart going 37-79 passing for 465 yards with 6 TDs (6 INTs) (79 pass attempts is new 8-Man single game record), Chris Yates caught 14 passes for 213 yards with 3 TDs, while Cole Brosa snagged 13 passes for 134 yards. Jachin Drinkard caught a pair of TDs and Jason Myers also caught a TD. Carter Allen ran for 257 on 30 carries with 3 TDs, while Lucas Welborn added TD run.
