In a rematch from three weeks ago the Jeff County North Chargers used a strong second half to race past Troy in the regional round of the playoffs Friday night in Winchester by a 48-8 final.

It was Troy though that got off to a fast start scoring on their second drive of the game marching down the field in six plays before Cam Anderson found Brayden Hamilton on a 32-yard touchdown pass with the two-point conversion giving the Trojans an 8-0 lead.

From there Jeff County North forced punts on every drive of the remaining of the first half and received a 1-yard run by Caleb Worthington along with a 3-yard by Blake Fowler to give the Chargers a 16-8 lead at the half.

The third quarter is where JCN really took control scoring on their first three drives of the third quarter on two runs by Fowler and a run by Worthington before Ethan Noll gave the Chargers complete control with a 40-yard pick-six to make it 36-8 in the blink of an eye.

Jeff County North tacked on a 3-yard run from Worthington late for the final score giving the Chargers the eventual 48-8 victory.

The Chargers ran for 303 yards on the night with a three-headed monster in the backfield as Worthington led the way rushing for 127 yards on 18 carries with three touchdowns earning him our Citizens State Bank and Trust Company in Hiawatha Player of the Game on KNZA.

Fowler added 97 yards and three touchdowns on the ground for JCN while Grady Noll added 79 yards.

Troy in the loss was held to just 37 yards of offense in the second half and 187 yards total with Cam Anderson throwing for 116 yards and a touchdown along with an interception.

Jeff County North (8-2) moves on to the sectional round and will travel to undefeated and No. 1-ranked Olpe next week, while Troy ends the year with a record of 5-5.
