2A State Cross Country Recap: McLouth Boys Finish 3rd and Girls Post 5th Place Finish

The McLouth boys and girls cross country teams posted strong finishes to the 2021 seasons at the 2A State Meet in Victoria on Saturday. 

We'll start with the boys as they posted two runners inside the top-20 and three inside the top-25. Senior Jared Plake finished in 15th place with a time of 17:10.2. Junior Henry Cloyd finished in 18th with a time of 17:11.4 and junior Dylan Stemmons finished in 25th. 

Other McLouth runners included sophomore Andrew Cloyd (47th), junior Zach Hedden (63rd), senior Alex Bennett (66th), and junior Ryan Beach (81st). 

Jackson Heights finished in 10th place led by senior Daniel Little's 22nd place finish with a time of 17:26.4. Sophomore Nathaniel Link finished 33rd and junior Lucas Perry finished in 36th. 

Other Cobra's competing included sophomore Kryndon Proffitt (90th), freshman Korbin Karns (93rd), and freshman Landon Gouge (100th). 

Valley Falls took their team and finished in 12th place. Junior Thayer Coleman finished 71st and junior Dawson Branam finished in 72nd place. 

Other Dragon runners included senior Logan Martens (77th), senior Brennen Miller (80th), freshman Grayson Coleman (91st), sophomore Josiah Hefty (96th), and senior Aiden Sieve (98th). 

The Jefferson County North boys took three runners and all three finished inside the top-35 led by sophomore Isaac Kane's 27th place finish with a time of 17:36.4. Senior Trent Meredith finished in 31st place while senior Cole Burk finished 34th. 

Also ACCHS junior Haeden Forbes posted a 35th place finish.

The McLouth girls posted a 5th place finish at the State Meet led by senior Reagan Clark's top-10 finish and senior Nina Hedden's top-15 finish. Clark posted a time of 20:09.1 which was good for 9th place and Hedden's time of 20:26.0 was good for 13th. Senior Shelby Hedden also had a good showing with a time good for 30th. 

Other McLouth girls competing featured sophomore Ash David (52nd), senior Kaya Schupp (93rd), sophomore Maisyn Lilly (98th), and junior Sky Forsberg (101st). 

The Valley Falls girls finished in 11th place led by junior Carly Henson who finished in 71st place. 

Other Dragon runners were sophomore Renay Myers (82nd), junior Amelia Brown (84th), sophomore Madison Conner (88th), junior Courtney Conner (90th), and sophomore Katelynn Yates (92nd). 

Oskaloosa freshman Katelyn Vogel posted a time of 21:04.7 which was good for 21st place in her first State Meet at the high school level. 

The Jefferson County North freshmen duo of Bowie Dupere-Weishaar and Ivy Fujibayashi posted strong finishes of 26th and 33rd place respectively. 

ACCHS had two freshmen runners of Rebekah Caplinger and Leah Wilson. Wilson finished 41st and Caplinger finished 46th place. 

Also Jackson Heights senior Annalysse Allen posted a 51st place finish.
