The Centralia Panthers volleyball team had their season come to a close in Dodge City on Saturday with a third place finish at the 1A-D1 State Tournament.
The Panthers (38-7) opened the day by taking on top-seed Pretty Prairie in the Semi-Finals and it was the Bulldogs who would pull out the three set victory 20-25, 25-22, and 15-25.
Centralia got down big in the first set but battled back to make it close but the Bulldogs would hold off the Panthers late surge.
Centralia had a second half surge in set two to pull away from Pretty Prairie but they would have to hold off a late Bulldogs surge to force a deciding third set.
However, it was all Pretty Prairie in the third set as they raced out to a 7-1 lead and wouldn't look back as they defeated Centralia 25-15 in that final set.
The Panthers went on to face the Victoria Knights in the third place match and the Panthers bounced back with a straight sets win 25-19 and 25-20.
The Centralia senior class includes Katelyn Ohlsen, Avery Deters, Abbie Flentie and Hailie Domann.
