The Nemaha Central Thunder bounced back in a big way on Friday night by defeating Royal Valley 49-0 in a Big 7 match up for their first win of the season.

The Thunder were coming off a tough loss in week one to a ranked Holton squad, 25-24 on a last second field goal.

According to KPreps, the Thunder entered week two still ranked number three in class 2A.

The Thunder got the ball first and drove 60 yards in four plus minutes capped off by a Sam McWilliams 14 yard touchdown run. Royal Valley's first drive ended in a three and out and they were unable to get a punt away which set up the Thunder's second drive at the Panthers 11 yard line. One play and five seconds later, QB Zac Kramer bolts up the middle to extend the lead to 14-0.

The rout was on as Royal Valley couldn't move the ball while the Thunder was able to score on every possession in the first half while also adding a defensive touchdown by Cooper Hayek on a fumble return.

The Nemaha Central lead was 49-0 at halftime so a running block was set the rest of the game as both teams used that time to play some younger players to get experience.

Thunder QB Zac Kramer went 5-5 for 100 yards and two touchdowns and also had three carries for 35 yards and another score. Sam McWilliams led the rushing attack with 11 carries for 79 yards and two scores.

The Thunder totaled 289 yards of offense while Royal Valley was held to just 164 yards of offense.

Nemaha Central (1-1, 1-1 Big 7) will travel to Sabetha in week three while Royal Valley (1-1, 1-1 Big 7) will travel to Christ Prep Academy on Saturday, September 18th for a 3:00 PM kick-off time.
