In one of the most thrilling games you will ever see, Marysville punched their ticket to the State Legion Baseball Tournament next week with a wild 24-21 victory over Doniphan County Thursday night.

Both teams got out to good starts with each side scoring two runs in the first inning before Marysville grabbed a 6-2 lead after the top of the third.

The flood gates opened for Doniphan in the bottom of the third, as DC sent 15 batters to the plate and scored 11 runs with Kole Franken racking up four RBIs in the inning which included a 3-run double.

Broc Studer also collected two hits and two RBIs in the inning as DC befitted from six hits, three walks, one hit batsman and two Marysville errors.

Marysville came right back though and pulled back within a 13-12 game after a 6-run fourth where they sent 10 guys to the plate taking advantage of three hits, a walk, two hit batsman and three errors.

After a few runs were traded back and forth Marysville put together a 7-run top of the sixth and led 21-17 going into the bottom of the seventh, but Doniphan County scored four to tie it as Alex Libel singled in two and Kole Franken singled in the tying run.

That 21-all score held all the way until the ninth inning when Marysville plated three runs including two on one wild pitch to lead 24-21.

Caden Brinegar then finished off DC in the bottom of the ninth on the mound to give Marysville the victory and propel them to state next week.

Payton LeDuc had three hits and four RBIs in the win for Marysville while Gabe Ketter added four RBIs along with Zach Haefele who added three hits and four more RBIs.

In the loss Kole Franken had six RBIs for DC while Trent Spiker and Broc Studer each added three more.

Marysville now awaits their spot in the state tournament next week in Pittsburg which is slated to get underway on Wednesday.
