Wednesday, June 23rd -Sabetha Sweeps Hiawatha 12-4 and 6-5

In game one, Hiawatha scored two runs on two hits in the top of the first inning, but the lead was short lived and Sabetha answered with eight runs on six hits and took advantage of three Hiawatha errors in their first inning to bat. Hiawatha again added a pair of runs and hits in the second inning to pull within 8-4 but never got any closer. 

Ashton Rockey scored two Hiawatha runs and pitched nearly four innings in relief while starter Xavier Oldham had two hits and but recorded just one out as the starting pitcher despite allowing just one earned run as Sabetha had their first eight batters all reach base safely.  

Sabetha was led by Braden Argabright going 2-3 with two runs and 3 RBI while Matthew Garber was 2-2 with a couple runs scored and Cooper Bradbury delivered three RBI.  Sabetha catcher, Josh Hermann was named the McDonalds Player of the Game reaching base safely all three plate apperances and also making a couple outstanding catches in foul territory. Christian McAfee tossed four of the five innings allowing just four runs on seven hits for the win. 

In game two, Sabetha hung on to win 7-5.  Sabetha scored three runs in the first two innings to take an early 6-0 lead.  Hiawatha however came back and plated a trio of runs in the third and a pair of runs in the fourth frame to cut the lead to 6-5.  The Raptors added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI groundout from Herrmann that scored Argabright from second. Darrin Funk got the win and Cooper Bradbury recorded his second save of the season. Marcus Bauman and Bradbury recorded a pair of hits and Argabright had 3 RBI's in the game as the Sabetha Raptors improved their season record to 18-4.  

 

Tuesday, June 22nd - Sabetha and Seneca Split Twin Bill 

Sabetha and Seneca split a double header with the Raptors winning game one 10-8 and Seneca shutting out Sabetha in the nightcap 5-0.

Sabetha scored a pair of runs in the seventh to grab the 10-8 win.  Matthew Garber had a 2-out single to score Johnathan Renyer from second and Nathan Voos followed with an RBI double to score Garber.  The Raptors jumped to an early 3-0 lead after a Braden Argabright 3-run dinger.  Seneca was able to cut the lead to 3-2 in the second on a Dylan Schultejeins solo blast. Seneca was eventually able to knot the score at eight before the Raptors were able to score the final pair of runs.

Josh Herrmann pitched the final 2.2 innings for the win.  Christian McAfee and Voos each collected a pair of hits for Sabetha.  Landen Baker had a double and triple and scored a pair of runs while adding 2 RBI's for Seneca.

The nightcap was all Brayden Uphaus.  Uphaus scattered 4 hits and fanned 9 Raptors.  Seneca scored a pair of runs in the first and added three more in the 4th to win the 5-inning affair.  Once again, Baker proved to be a catalyst for Seneca.  He added another 3 RBI's to his evening on a triple and a single.
