Nemaha Central Track Sweeps Doniphan West Invitational

Doniphan West Invitational – Results

The high school track season rolled along last night with area teams competing at Doniphan West and the Nemaha Central girls and boys each claimed team titles.

The Thunder girls had nine event winners on the day led by sophomore Julie Rottinghaus who won the triple jump, long jump, and 100-meter dash while Hannah Scott won the javelin and shot put. Hailey Nordus also won the 400-meter dash while Madison Lortscher won the pole vault and the 4 by 100 and 4 by 400-meter relay teams picking up wins as well.

Doniphan West added eight first place finishes led by Claire Cole who won the 110 and 300-meter hurdles along with the high jump, while Elle Williams captured the 800 and 1600-meter runs. The Mustangs also got a win from Chloe Clevenger in the 3200-meter run while Sadie Leach won the discus and the 4 by 800-meter relay team.

The only other girl’s individual win came from Horton who had Maliyah Soto win the 200-meter dash.

On the boy’s side Nemaha Central won the team title with eight victories led by Sam McWilliams who won the long jump and triple jump while Nathan Deters won the shot put and discus. Dylan Lortscher also won the high jump and 300-meter hurdles while Carter Sudbeck won the 300-meter hurdles and Cooper Hajek the 400-meter dash.

Axtell chipped in six event wins with two coming from Mitchell Buessing in the 800 and 1600-meter runs while George Volle won the javelin, Noah Scheibe the pole vault and the 4 by 400 and 4 by 800-meter relay teams picking up wins.

Doniphan West added three event wins including two from Trent Spiker in the 100 and 200-meter dash while the 4 by 100-meter relay team took gold as well.

The meet was rounded out by Wetmore’s Eric Bloom who captured the 3200-meter run.
