Pratt, Kansas

Twenty Two and Two. That's the current record for the Oskaloosa Bears softball team following their 10-0, Five-Inning run rule victory on Thursday against Burlingame. What's next? The Bears are guaranteed two more games....again.

Ellie Stember pitched a No Hit shutout, with 5 complete innings allowing just 2 walks, hitting one batter while striking out 5. At the plate, Oskaloosa combined for 10 runs on 11 hits. Led by Reese Curry (4-4, 3 runs scored), Paige Lowe (2-3, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored), Regan Curry (3-3, 2 RBI and 1 run scored), Megan Miller (2-4, HR, 2 RBI and 1 run scored) and Sophia Rockhold (2-3, 2 RBI). A total collective team effort got Oskaloosa this win, but they want two more.

Oskaloosa played in the state title game in 2016 losing on a walk-off home run to Riverton. The Bears played in the state title game in 2018, falling to Silver Lake 8-2. Could this be the Bears' year? They are trying to get back to the title game for the third time in four years. Many think this could be their year, and why not? Oskaloosa has 3 key areas covered like a blanket.

Defense. The Bears have just 19 errors collectively for the entire season and defensive fielding percentage of .958. That's impressive

Offense. The Bears collectively have a batting average of .436 and average over 12 runs per game. That's astonishing

Pitching. Led by Ellie Stember, the Bears hold a 3.44 ERA as a team and have struck out 109 batters while allowing just 49 walks. That's dominance

The Bears look to keep it rolling Friday versus Hutchinson-Trinity Catholic HS in the 2-1A State Semifinals. You can listen to the game live on 93.7FM KAIR Horton/Atchison, or anywhere online at https://streamdb7web.securenetsystems.net/v5/KAIR. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00AM, but mother nature might say otherwise as strong storms head towards Pratt. Check the scrolling headlines on mscsports.net for any changes to times.
