2019 Twin Valley League Results – Girls & Boys
Records were broken just like they have all season on the track Thursday afternoon at Washington County as the Centralia girls and Clifton-Clyde boys captured Twin Valley League championships.
The Panther girls won the league title behind four league champions, as Tamra Jones won the 300-meter hurdles, Madison Lueger the javelin and Breanna Schmitz the pole vault. Centralia also captured one relay title, as the team of Jones, Morgan Kramer, Maegan Koch and Abbie Flentie won the 4 by 400-meter relay.
Frankfort finished second in the league standings with five gold medal winners, led by Emilee Ebert who came away with four wins on the day. She broke her own school record in a win in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 6 inches, while she also won the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Ebert also teamed up with Mariah Broxterman, Grace Dressman and Lydia Loiseau to win the 4 by 100-meter relay. Dressman also captured the 100-meter hurdles and set another school record with a time of 16.03 to round of the day for the Lady Cats.
Valley Heights added four more wins, as individually Samantha Vermetten won the 800 and 1600-meter runs while Emma Yungeberg won the shot put. The Mustangs also had one relay win, as the team of Vermetten, Abigail Steinfort, Abby Lister and Maddy Vermetten won the 4 by 800-meter relay.
The girl’s side was rounded out by Axtell and Troy, as the Eagles had Kori Schmelzle win the 400-meter dash and Jordyn Smith the 3200-meter run while the Trojans had Amanda Stock win the high jump.
On the boy’s side the best area performances came from Centralia, as the Panthers had three event wins led by Daegan Steinlage who won the discus and shot put league titles while Cooper Deters also won the pole vault crown.
Axtell added four more event wins, as Quinn Buessing led the way with wins in the 800, 1600 and 3200-meter runs. The Eagles also won one relay event, as the team of Buessing, Blake Porting, Simon Schmitz and Clark Werner captured the 4 by 800-meter crown.
The meet was rounded out by Valley Heights and Troy, as the Mustangs had Trey Martin win the long jump and triple jump while the Trojans had Reid Jasper capture the 200-meter dash.
