Centralia Girls Track & Field Leads Area Teams at Frankfort Invitational

Frankfort Invitational – Results  

It was another highly competitive day on the track between Twin Valley League teams Thursday night at the Frankfort Invitational and it was the Centralia girls and Hanover boys claiming the team titles.

The Panther girls won the meet behind three first place finishes, as Morgan Kramer won the 200-meter dash while Emily Weyer won the 3200-meter run and the team of Kramer, Abbie Flentie, Maegan Koch and Tamra Jones the 4 by 400-meter relay.

Frankfort finished second as a team but had five gold medal winners, led by Emilee Ebert who won the 100-meter dash and the long jump. Maggie Armstrong also won the pole vault and Grace Dressman the 100-meter hurdles, while the team of Ebert, Dressman, Mariah Broxterman and Lydia Loiseau won the 4 by 100-meter relay.

Valley Heights added six more gold medal winners, led by Emma Yungeberg who won the shot put and javelin which she also set the school record for with a throw of 133 feet, 7 inches. Maddy Vermetten also won the discus throw, while Samanatha Vermetten won the 800-meter run and Abigail Steinfort the 1600-meter run. The Mustangs rounded out the day with the team of Maddy Vermetten, Samantha Vermetten, Catherine Toerber and Abby Lister won the 4 by 800-meter relay.

On the boy’s side the best area finish came from Centralia who took second behind four first place finishes. Daegan Steinlage led the way taking first in the discus and shot put, while Tahj Engelken won the 3200-meter run and Cooper Deters the pole vault.

Onaga added four more gold medal winners, led by Aaron Schwartz who won the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. Quinton Norris also won the 1600-meter run, while the team of Schwartz, Kufahl, Colby Myers and Casey Myers won the 4 by 400-meter relay.

Frankfort also had two first place finishers, as Carson Schreiner won the 100-meter dash while the team of Schreiner, Ethan Armstrong, Keller Olson and Caden Dalinghaus won the 4 by 100-meter relay.

The day was rounded out by Valley Heights who had one gold medal winner which belonged to Evan Haines who won the 800-meter run.
